Our Church

God has a vision of shalom for us and for our communities. In the Bible shalom means not only peace but also healing, restoration, wholeness, salvation and completion. Join us and experience the love and peace of God’s community!

Vision of Peace Church is a multi-ethnic, multi-generational United Methodist Church located in the suburbs of Washington DC and serves as the English-speaking congregation of the Korean United Methodist Church of Greater Washington.

Founded in 1993, Vision of Peace has grown over the years to a congregation of over 200 members representing a variety of ages, professions and cultural backgrounds.

Dynamic Worship:

The service at the VOPC consists of congregational worship through the use of contemporary music, prayer and Biblical teaching. Holy Communion is celebrated monthly, on the first Sunday of the month.

Family Friendly Congregation:

Our congregation includes adults and kids who live in Maryland, Virginia and D.C. We provide opportunities for families to learn, grow, and serve together through activities that encourage family participation.

We welcome people of all ages, nations, and cultures. We invite diverse opinions and beliefs. We would like to offer a place to belong and connect to others as a family in Jesus Christ.

Growing Strong in Faith:

We want to know God more. Our desire is to develop a personal relationship with Jesus as our Lord and Savior through Bible study, worship, and fellowship with other Christians. In addition to loving God, we seek to love our neighbors through local and international mission support.

Children and Youth

Youth Chapel — when viewing the main set of stairs outside the church, enter the doors directly to the right at the bottom of the stairs. The Youth Chapel is straight ahead at the end of the entrance hallway.

The children and youth service consists of engaging and informative worship through the use of contemporary music, stories, and prayer. After the group worship, children separate into age appropriate groups for additional worship and activities.

Childcare is available during VOPC worship service, and families with young children are welcome to use the quiet room in the back of the fellowship hall.

The youth group is very active throughout the week.

2016 Vision of Peace All Church Retreat

We are blessed as a church to come together again at Mount St. Mary's University for our 2016 All Church Retreat. These are interesting and busy times in the history of our church, and the timing seems perfect to retreat and spend a weekend together worshiping, praising, learning, sharing and praying about the wonderful life altering grace of God and Jesus Christ. Our theme this year is "Flowing Grace", and our hope is that every single person attending this retreat experiencing and witnesses the powerful love of God and Jesus Christ flowing through them. Our prayer for our church, is that we come away from this retreat fully aware of the love that God and Jesus have for us. We pray for transformation, so that we all become spiritual leaders in our homes, places of work, church and communities.

The cost of the retreat is as follows: $100/adult and $50/child (6 years and older). Children under the age of 6 are free.

This year, we are doing online registration. Please click on the link below to get to the registration site. You will have the option of being billed via PayPal or check.
